An investigation into the error that a few FBP users were experiencing, where they would receive the script collision error message, “you appear to be running 2 versions of FBP”, even though they only had one version of FBP installed, revealed a solution to the problem.
Basically it seems its AVG antivirus interfering with the Facebook page, causing posts 2 appear twice and also to make the script run twice, which causes the previously mentioned error.
The solution is to uninstall AVG antivirus, install Avast antivirus instead, as it doesnt interfere with other programs so much, and doesnt slow the computer or use up so many resources.
FB Purity – Clears the junk from your FB homepage
**UPDATE** This error can also occur after FB Purity has just been updated, either manually or via an automatic update. This is a glitch, and im not 100% sure why it occurs atm. Basically, if you reload the page and the error message does not come back again, then you can safely ignore this error. If however the error message comes back on each page reload, then you definitely have 2 versions of FBP installed, and will need to remove one of them.

I’m running the paid version of BitDefender, not AVG but also get the “two versions” error. Is there any other solution? I don’t want to go with Avast as I prefer BitDefender.
https://www.bitdefender.com/ Thanks for your help.
if that error message doesnt show on every page refresh, then it is just a temporary glitch and can be ignored. that issue can occur just after fbp is updated either manually or automatically.
I’m also getting it intermittently in the last week or so with ESET antivirus.

I’ve checked, and I only have one FB Purity in my add-ons.
I’m running Comodo Dragon security.
The problem that I have is that FB runs fine for a little while, and then starts slowing to a crawl and the message that I’m running two versions of FBP appears. Sometimes (rarely, and it never stays up for more than a second, far too little time for me to actually click the disable button) I’ll get a popup that allows me to disable one temporarily, but it always comes back up.
I keep having this problem, so the only thing I can think to do is remove it entirely and then reinstall.

Hi!
I remember there was a FBP issue a while back, maybe a year or so ago . I run Firefox and the fix was to update the script until (I think) a new version of FBP was released. FBP issued directions on how to modify the script. I followed the directions, it worked and I went on my merry way. Now, I too am getting the “2 versions” error, but in my case, I’m pretty sure it’s true. What I need, because I don’t remember how, are the directions to revert/undo/delete the script I originally modified. Can you help please?
That error message can occur when FBP is updated or it auto-updates, its a quirk of the update system that temporarily causes 2 versions of FBP to run at the same time. As mentioned in the error message, if you reload the page you are on and the error message does not show up again, then you can safely ignore it. If the error message is displayed every time you reload/refresh the page, then you do need to take action, the instructions for what to do are in the FAQ page https://faq.fbpurity.com
