On 16th February, I found out I could no longer log in to Facebook, as without warning or explanation they had disabled my personal Facebook account. Also disabled was the Fan Page for F.B (Fluff Busting) Purity.

All attempts at contacting Facebook to find out why they have done this have failed, the automated messages received simply state that they will not re-enable his account, or discuss why it has been disabled.

I have been on Facebook for over 4 years, so have built a lot of relationships on there with Friends and Family, including hundreds of photos, messages, wall posts, etc,
I had also via the F.B. Purity Fan Page on Facebook, built up a following of 36,000 fans for my browser extension F.B. Purity, which enables Facebook users to filter out the content that they dont wish to see in their newsfeeds and on their facebook homepage.

All that has now been wiped out, and I can no longer stay in touch with my family and friends easily anymore, and have lost all the content I have posted to Facebook, and can no longer access my friends content or the many other Facebook features that are available.

This is completely unfair, and has been done without a real reason, as I have done nothing wrong.

F.B Purity Update v6.6.1 – Various minor Fixes

F.B. Purity is a browser extension that cleans up your Facebook homepage, it is compatible with Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.

Changes in FB Purity v6.6.1:

  • The Hide Sponsored Box option is now switched on by default.
  • Added links to new FBP Fan Page on Google Plus
  • Added code to hide footer in Right hand column.
  • Fixed youtube scrollbars issue (this was fixed before my account was disabled)
  • fixed hidden info on FB questions and FB insights when FBP’s font + background colour options are set (this was fixed before my account was disabled)

With no warning at all, Facebook have disabled the F.B. Purity Fan Page which had over 36,000 fans and also my own personal Facebook account

With no warning at all, Facebook disabled the F.B. Purity fan page and my personal Facebook account today at around 4pm GMT on 16th February.

The future of FB Purity is now up in the air. Well it seems Google Plus just gained a new user and evangelist…

The FB Purity Fan page has now moved to google Plus https://plus.google.com/+FbpurityNews

You can also keep up to date with the latest FB Purity news via the FB Purity twitter feed at twitter.com/fbpurity and the FB Purity News RSS Feed

The FB Purity browser extension can still be obtained from this website fbpurity.com

Ive tried contacting Facebook about this, and they say they will not re-enable my account and will not enter into a discussion about the situation. So I am currently trying to figure out what the best course of action is.

F.B Purity Update v6.4.3 – Fixed Story filtering, which was broken due to a code change by Facebook.

I’ve fixed FB Purity‘s story filtering functionality, and released FB Purity v6.4.3

You can hide the new Facebook “Action” (aka frictionless sharing) stories by ticking the “hide read an article (FB Actions)” option. This will let you hide stories like “read an article”, “watched a film”, “listened to a song”, “played a game” etc.

F.B Purity has stopped filtering the newsfeed due to a change in Facebook’s code, please be patient while i fix it.

FB Purity appears to have stopped filtering the newsfeed, this is due to a change in Facebook’s underlying code, i am working on a fix for this, please stay tuned.
